Golden Milk

Grounding, warming and nourishing evening beverage. Perfect to balance (reduce) vata qualities and to enjoy in fall and winter.

Warm milk in sauce pan and add spices. Take off heat add ghee and sweetener. If possible froth. Enjoy!

Milk: 1 cup , traditionally fresh (raw) whole milk is used. Organic whole milk works and can be mixed with a little water as well. Or non dairy: almond or coconut milk.

Turmeric + black pepper : 1/4 teaspoon powered dry turmeric, 1 pinch of black pepper to help absorption

Spices: 1/8-1/4 teaspoon (or to taste) cardamon, cinnamon and nutmeg powders (nutmeg supports sleep)

Sweetener: traditionally jaggery (raw cane sugar, also called piloncillo or panela depending on where you are in the world. Maple syrup or honey (if cooled a bit) work as well. Adding a date and then blending the whole thing is a delicious option.

ghee: traditionally a drop is added for more nourishment . Avoid with excess kapha or high cholesterol .
